S. Y. D. A. R. C - SAVE YOUTHS, DRUG ABUSE REHABILITATION CENTER (Uganda)
Vision - youth community free of drug abuse.
Mission - to provide treatment services leading to improved health, drug abuse prevention, an effective and productive citizenry youth in Uganda.
Background - at any given time, there are at least 140 people admitted to the mental hospital over drug abuse most of them are youths between the age of 18 and 25 and it is stated that a few make it to the hospital this still worsens the problem among the age group. 22% of students in schools are believed to practicing drug abuse (alcohol, marijuana, among others) being the most abused where by these people require a lot of prevention, guidance and treatment. SYDARC ‘s interventions will directly address these challenges among the youth of Uganda.
Objectives:
• To improve peer guidance, services referrals and interaction.
• To promote economic and productive young-youths entrepreneurs engagement in SYDARC’s catchment areas.
• To reduce the likelihood that youth and adults might engage in i.e. risky behaviour.
• To provide counselling and guidance in school, homesteads and in the work places.
• To engage and empower individuals and family.
