International youth exchange in Celje, Slovenia
Between 18th and 25th of September 2016 Celjski mladinski center hosted international youth exchange »Active for future«, participated by 36 youth from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Bulgaria, Romania and Slovenia.
The topic of the exchange was informal acquirement of knowledge and skills in the world, where employers expect more and more from job seekers. Expanding, enhancing and dissemination of knowledge, that are not evaluated with certified document, are gaining in value and have essential meaning for professional and personal growth.
The two year project Active for future begun on 1st of October 2015, participated by six countries, including three African countries.
Objective of the project Active for future is developing skills, knowledge and abilities of the youth with the intention for increasing their chances for employment. Training happened in Kenya in May 2016 where young workers gained new skills, knowledge for support in developing youth's initiative. This knowledge is being upgraded and adjusted regarding the local needs of the youth.
Participants of the exchange were talking about the role of youth in job market, introducing individual aspects of hiring youth, transfer knowledge and experiences and looking for the answers for improving their status, site seeing in Celje and learning of its history.
Project Active for future was part of the program Erasmus+ and it is intended for youth from different countries. This type of youth exchange represent efficient tool of informal and casual learning. This is how the young develop their competences, meeting new culture, customs and strengthen values of tolerance and friendships.
